Every dollar you charged, checked against what reached the bank
A charged transaction does not mean the money reached your account. The ENIGMA reconciliation system checks every transaction against your card processor and your bank, finds money that got stuck along the way, and prepares a file for you to claim it back.
What the system finds
The errors that are hardest to spot in a manual check.
Missing settlements
Transactions that went through but never reached the account, or arrived short.
Wrong fees
Fees higher than the rate in your agreement with the processor.
Missing installments
Installment transactions where one of the payments did not arrive on time.
Refunds and voids
Recorded twice, or not recorded at all.
Wrong assignment
Transactions assigned to the wrong location or terminal.
Delays
Deposits that take longer than agreed.
Works from reports only
The system does not touch your existing POS or payment processing, and you do not need to change providers. It uses read-only access to reports and connects to your bank.
- Findings report by location, processor and period
- The exact amount of every discrepancy
- A ready file for each card processor
- Ongoing monitoring and an alert on every new gap
How it works
Connect the reports
POS and terminal reports, card processor statements and bank statements.
The system matches
Every transaction against its deposit, by date, amount, terminal and authorization code.
You get the findings
A report with every gap, and a ready file to claim the money back from the processor.
Why businesses lose money in card processing
Between the terminal, the card processor and the bank there are several steps, and money can get stuck at each one. On a single transaction the gap looks small, but for a chain with thousands of transactions a month it adds up to significant amounts.
Why a manual check is not enough
A manual check is usually a sample, done once every few months. Comparing monthly totals also hides errors that cancel each other out. Only matching transaction by transaction, day by day, finds all the gaps.
Who it pays off for
Chains with several locations and terminals, businesses with many installment transactions, and businesses that work with more than one card processor. See also the guide Card reconciliation for businesses and solutions for retail and pharmacy chains.
Common questions
Do I need to switch my payment processor?
No. The system works with the reports you already have, from any card processor and any terminal.
What period do you check?
We usually start with a review of the past few months, then move to ongoing monitoring.
Can the system take actions in my bank account?
No. It uses read-only access to reports.
How is the service priced?
Reconciliation is a separate paid module, priced by transaction volume and number of locations. Talk to us for a quote.
